Google Announces Search Central Virtual Unconference: Registration Opens March 30th

On Wednesday Google announced that they will start accepting applications for their third edition of Search Central’s Virtual Unconference taking place on April 27, 2022, from 9:00 AM MDT – 12:00 PM MDT.

What is the Search Central Unconference?

In 2020, Google hosted its first virtual unconference, the Virtual Webmaster Unconference.  This was primarily due to the fact that they could not hold an in-person conference. Just as many other businesses began hosting virtual conferences and conventions, Google also created a virtual event for people in the webmaster and SEO world to connect, collaborate, and talk to each and Googe product teams.

The 2020 unconference was successful so Google brought it back in 2021.  And, now in 2022, they are having their third Search Central Virtual Unconference.  Here’s a recap of the 2021 event from Search Engine Roundtable if you’re interested in learning more about it.

This year’s Unconference will be similar. They will host a collection of group discussions, which will be led by one or two facilitators (either Googlers, Product Experts, or Google community members).

If you are interested in becoming a facilitator you can apply to become a group facilitator. The facilitator’s responsibilities are to make sure that the conversation flows throughout the session and that everyone has a chance to participate in the discussion.  Here are the guidelines for anyone interested in becoming a facilitator. You have until March 23rd to apply.

If you’d like to participate in the Search Central Unconference Registration starts on March 30th at 4 am DST.

If you’d like to participate in the Unconference, spots are limited. Google will begin taking applications for participants on March 30, 2022, at 4 am MDT.  At this point, there is no agenda listed as far as what topics they will be discussing, but based on the previous events it should be interesting.
